Troy received his B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Florida. His master’s research focused on the surface modification of filter media to remove chemical and microbial contaminants from water. He followed that with a doctoral program in molecular microbiology and epidemiology. He completed postdoctoral fellowships in Marine Science at the University of South Florida and Fisheries and Wildlife at Michigan State University.
